ARTIST STATEMENT

My paintings are a combination of painterly realism and abstracted space. I'm interested in shifting forms, the blurring of form, the way we move through time. Every moment is different from the last, and the next. There is always lost and found, as indistinct and true as love. As my daughter has grown and my parents passed, my paintings have become more blurred, as my life moves toward the unspoken.

I'm interested in the process of applying and scraping, pushing the paint around till it communicates something. The part that speaks is the lost part, the part that is always disappearing or coming into being, as life shifts through this time that we share.

I work mostly in oils on boards and canvases, and I make marks with a variety of tools--brushes, and rollers and scrapers. I work as spontaneously as possible within the form and stay open to what the painting has to say.
